About the Artwork: Her name is "Danielle." She was created about 10 years ago.  There are only 3 copies as yet. Danielle is appropriately symbolic of ELEM's youth in distress.  The mood she conveys, naked under the wrap covering her- vulnerable, alone.  She's not reaching out, she needs to be rescued.

About the Artist: The first twenty years of Varda Yoran's life were spent in China. She was born to Jewish parents who emigrated from Russia. She was educated in English at the Jewish School at Tientsin during the Japanese occupation of China and throughout World War II. Her entire life has been exposure to a conglomerate of cultures- Chinese, Russian, English, Jewish, Japanese.  Her art is influenced by there cultures.
